What is Crespaço?
Crespaço is a made up word combining the Portuguese words for create/creative (crea) and space (espaço).
What started as a need for studio space quickly grew into a dream of creating a space where artists, musicians, and the greater community could come together to create, inspire, be inspired, sell their work, connect, and be joyful. While Crespaço has evolved and changed since opening in October 2022, our mission remains the same: to provide opportunities for creativity, curiosity, and the community to thrive in a space where all are welcome.

Meet the Owner
Hi, I’m Hobit! My background is in special education and recreation education, but photography has been a constant thread throughout my career. When I moved from the U.S. to Setúbal, Portugal in April of 2022, I decided I wanted to go back to the creative realm as my primary profession. Community, doing meaningful work, and giving back has always been important to me, even more so since moving to a new country. I am grateful and feel honoured to get to fulfil both with Crespaço. It’s a wonderful adventure that has brought me much joy, friendships, and so much more. One of my favorite things about it is when people tell me coming here inspired them to return to something they loved doing but gave up long ago, become excited to start something new, or tell me they feel a sense of belonging and coziness here.
